I have a Ph.D. in Education Policy and Administration from the University of Minnesota; an MA in Public Administration from Hamline University; a BA in Psychology from the University of Minnesota; a certificate in the Science of Well-being from Yale and certificate in nutrition coaching from Nutritious Life Studios.
I have been an executive for 20 years, including in the c-suite, and I ran a multi-billion dollar government agency as the Commissioner of Education for the State of Minnesota
I also have been a teacher and professor and care deeply for teachers and the importance they have to our society.
I am most proud of founding a school for homeless children and serving as the Commissioner of Education for Minnesota.
I am the author of The Seven Stages of an Enlightened Teacher; Who's Building the Ark; and The MamaShama series focusing on spiritual growth, understanding, and that which is greater. I have written and published hundreds of articles on management, education, parenting, child development, spirituality, and personal fulfillment.
I'm a Midwesterner living in Florida.
My Cuban-born husband and I have 6 kids (ages 19 - 37) and 6 grandkids (ages 8 mos - 7 years). Hubby is a firefighter / paramedic in Miami.
I love jumping into my senses. I play piano and flute, dance the Argentine Tango and salsa, and I dabble with painting and relax through baking and wine. For excitement I SCUBA dive and downhill ski. I am an avid traveler who has been to every state and 71 countries. The more I see; the more a grow in understanding and gratitude.
I am an advocate for human rights, equality, and peace. I have been an active volunteer throughout my life and believe service to others is an obligation. I am honored to have met Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush each when he was in office.
